The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) states that at your request, as an American consumer, a Credit Reporting Agency(CRA) must give you the information in your credit report file, and a list of everyone who has requested to look at it recently. There is no charge for your report if a person or company has taken action against you in an employment or credit rejection because of information supplied by the CRA, providing you request your credit report within 60 days of receiving notice of the credit or employment rejection action. You also are entitled to one free report every twelve months if you can certify that (1) you are unemployed and plan to seek employment within 60 days, (2) you are on welfare, or (3) your report is inaccurate due to fraud. If you are a resident of Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Vermont, you are entitled to receive a free copy of your consumer credit report once each year from Experian, and if you are a resident of Georgia, twice each year. Otherwise, a CRA may charge you eight to 15 dollars for each credit report.
Even If you qualify for a free credit report for any of the above reasons, you will need to see all 3 of your credit reports to effectively repair your credit. Save time by ordering your 3 major CRA Credit Reports online that you will need to help you begin to repair your credit. |
